JIM MURPHY
Jim, originally from Kilsyth, started his working life as a 16 year old with H & C Lifts and spent many years working as a Lift Engineer. Jim remained with the company as it was taken over by Dover Lift Company of America and then Thyssen Krupp.
In the early 1990s, Jim completed his own First Aid At Work qualification and enjoyed it so much he joined St Andrews Ambulance as a volunteer first aider. This gave him the opportunity to develop other skills away from the engineering world and Jim started to train as a Trainer and Assessor.
Stepping further into the training world, Jim achieved his own Learning and Development and Customer Service SVQs, along with his Assessor A1 and Internal Verifier V1 awards.
Married to Debra, they have four children and four grandchildren.
Jim's hobbies include cycling and is now back from his cycle tour of Scotland in June this year - with much better weather this year than in 2010 - sunshine, showers, wind and even snow on the Drummochter Pass!
A winter cycle tour around the Yorkshire Dales proved the hills in the dales can be just as tough as those in Scotland!
